Athina T. Giovanis, DO
- Neuromusculoskeletal and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Dr. Giovanis graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Microbiology. She then went on to work as a research scientist before entering the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree. Dr. Giovanis completed her internship at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. She then completed the Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, a program known for its rigorous training in Osteopathic Medicine for newborns, children and adults. She is Board Certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
After completing her post-graduate training, Dr. Giovanis remained in the Bronx in private practice before joining the team at East Greenwich Spine & Sport. Dr. Giovanis has studied with leading osteopaths in the country and continues to take advanced training courses in osteopathy.
Dr. Giovanis is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Osteopathy, the Cranial Academy, the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
